Cougar News November 1, 2017
The mission of St. Louis Catholic School is to prepare the leaders
of tomorrow with the light of Christ as their guide.
We will miss you, Ms. Claire!
Please join us in wishing Ms. Claire well in her new adventure! Ms. Claire will not return to SLCS this year and is currently attending school, pursuing a Master’s Degree in STEM. We will miss seeing her around the halls, but look forward to seeing her when she comes to visit at sporting and community events. Take care, Ms. Claire!
HALLOWEEN CANDY COLLECTION
Are you tired of Halloween candy tempting you day and night? If so, we have a solution! Place your leftover and unwanted candy in a bag and bring it to school and place it in the collection boxes around school. The candy will be bagged in snack bags and brought down to the Colonias and orphanages along the border in Mexico. Thank you for your sweet response!
Calling all Veterans!
Please join us 8:00 a.m. on November 10 at our weekly Friday school Mass in honor of YOU! After Mass, please stay for a flag ceremony and light refreshments in Wozniak. To help us plan, please RSVP to Mrs. Darlene Howard at the school office (512)614-6622 or [email protected]
COME TO THE KING’S TAVERN!
The entire St. Louis parish and school community is invited to The King’s Tavern at Casa Chapala to eat and drink at happy hour prices, hear a talk about how God works in our lives, and spend some time making friends within the parish and school community. Catholic theology, beer, and good food. A heavenly combination!
Next Monday, November 6th, Fr. Doug Jeffers will join us. “But then Face to Face: A reflection on heaven.” All are welcome to attend, and the evening is family friendly.
We’d love to see you at Casa Chapala next Monday at 6:30pm. Happy Hour prices last until 7:30pm when Fr. Doug begins his talk. The night wraps up shortly after that, but you’re free to stay as long as Casa Chapala is open. See you Monday!
Upcoming King’s Tavern dates:
11/13 – Fr. James “Living a Moral Life: How ought we live in the world today?”
THE TALENT SHOW IS COMING SOON!

Notes & Reminders:
~ Cooler weather is here! Please be sure your child(ren)’s clothing is marked with their name. This includes jackets and sweaters! Anything lost, but labelled, has a better chance of making it home.
~ Along with cooler weather come the questions regarding whether particular clothing items are allowed at school. Please note that leggings and footless tights are not allowed, while black or white opaque tights are. We allow short-sleeve under shirts and Parker long sleeve polos, but please do not wear turtle neck shirts under your polo or button-down. Hair accessories should be in school uniform colors, or your natural hair color. School uniform colors include green, black, red, and white. Please feel free to contact the school office any time to ask for clarification. We thank you in advance!
~ Many have asked about pull-tabs! YES, we do still collect them in support of the Ronald McDonald House of Austin. Over the last few school years we collected almost 250 pounds! Thank you to our families collecting and donating and also to our parents that volunteer to deliver them to the iron works donation site, where they are collected and weighed. Your support is appreciated!
