The mission of St. Louis Catholic School is to prepare the leaders
of tomorrow with the light of Christ as their guide.
Dear St. Louis Parents,
After discussion with Catholic Charities, an opportunity for us to come together as a school community to support those impacted by the destruction caused by Hurricane Harvey has arisen. At this Friday’s All School Mass, we will be taking up a “gift card collection” for families that have been affected by the devastation. A representative from Catholic Charities has advised us that the most valuable item to these families is gift cards to HEB and Wal Mart. We are asking for gift cards in whatever amount you are able to contribute. If you do not have the opportunity to purchase a gift cards, we can also accept cash or checks which we will use to buy Scrip cards. These gifts will be taken this weekend by the charitable organizations to the families in need.
Overview of the Virtue Program
St. Louis Catholic School believes every person is called to live a virtuous life. Our Virtue Program is a systematic approach to fostering character formation in our students. The purpose of this program is to instill in each student a desire to practice Catholic virtues both at home and at school. The core of the program is the recognition of the many “teachable moments” that arise each day. The goal is to make the practice of Catholic virtues not just another subject but a way of life for every student.
Each month we will focus on one of the Theological or Cardinal Virtues to help the students understand how God is not only calling each of us to live our life in order to attain eternal life, but the expectation that we help others also attain eternal life. We feel that it is important to highlight the way in which virtues are demonstrated in the lives of Saints, ourselves, peers, community, and in the world around us so the students see how the virtue can be applied to real-life situations. The teachers will reinforce the understanding and application of the virtue (see listing below) being focused on that month. Students will receive tickets when ‘caught’ exhibiting any of the virtues throughout the month, but especially the month’s focused virtue.
Additional information on our Virtue Program is attached to today’s Cougar News.
